The Children's Reading Foundation serves families, schools, and communities by providing proven programs, tools, and research to help nurture a child's development from birth through third grade in ways that foster early literacy, math, and social-emotional skills. The Children's Reading Foundation is a national organization that was started in 1996, first supporting children in Benton and Franklin counties.

Children's Reading Foundation Donor

Bechtel has donated nearly $30,000 to support the Children's Reading Foundation in support of programs, such as Ready for Kindergarten.

Children's Reading Foundation Books and Vines Sponsor

Bechtel has served as a sponsor for the Children's Reading Foundation's annual Book and Vines fundraiser since the fundraiser's inception in 2009. Bechtel was the prime sponsor for eleven years as of 2023 and donated to the event an additional three years, totaling more than $150,000.

Children's Reading Foundation Volunteers

Bechtel employees have volunteered at various events for the Children's Reading Foundation, including a "sticky night" when employees and their families put stickers on about 6,000 STEM books that were given to children of all ages over the summer.

Children's Reading Foundation Donor, Bechtel Women's Group

In 2006, the Bechtel Women's Group raised nearly $16,000 at its annual auction. The proceeds were donated to Kids Haven, the Children's Reading Foundation, Pet Overpopulation Prevention, and Cork's Place.
