Special Olympics of Washington helps people with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities, skills, and success. Athletes find joy, confidence, and fulfillment on the playing field and in life. The Special Olympics movement was founded in 1968 and includes more than 30 Olympic-style sports for adults and children.

Special Olympics Polar Plunge Fundraiser

The Vit Plant has participated in the annual Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge in Richland, Wash., since 2020. In 2021 and 2022, the Vit Plant was the top fundraising team in Washington state, raising more than $40,000 in two years.
